This iconic antique Indian carved yellow stone panel is from Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. Jaisalmer stone is a highly prized yellow stone and Jaisalmer artwork is highly prized in India. The design depicts a stylised blossoming lotus motif. The lotus symbol is used by both Hindus & Buddhists and haas been traced back to 1st century AD temples. The lotus symbolises beauty, fertility, prosperity, spirituality, and eternity.

This panel is carved in the Mughal style from India and dates to the 19th century or earlier. It has been reclaimed from a building that have fallen into disrepair.
